Signs & Signals

Signs, markings and lights direct traffic on the ACT's left-hand roads.

Regulatory signs

A red circle sets a rule and a red circle with a diagonal slash forbids an action, such as no right turn. STOP and GIVE WAY signs tell you when to yield.

Warning signs

Yellow diamond signs warn of a hazard ahead such as a curve, crossing or merge so you can slow down early.

Signals and lines

Obey traffic lights and arrows; a flashing amber light means proceed with caution. Do not cross double continuous centre lines to overtake.
