About PrepPass

Free practice questions and study guides for professional license and certification exams across the US — plus optional study-guide books. In English, Chinese, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

Mission

PrepPass exists because license exam prep should be affordable, accurate, and available in the languages the workforce actually speaks. Every practice question, explanation and full-length timed mock exam is free — no signup required. We also sell optional downloadable study guides, and that is the only thing we charge for. Our content covers every exam topic with citations to the underlying law.

Sources

Every practice question and study chapter is written from public-domain California law and regulations. For each exam:

  • CSLB Law & Business:California Business & Professions Code §7000+, California Civil Code (mechanics' liens, prompt payment), California Labor Code (wages, hours, workers' compensation), Cal/OSHA Title 8 CCR. Plus the official CSLB study guide for topic blueprint alignment.
  • Cosmetology / Barber / Esthetician / Manicurist: California Business & Professions Code §7300–§7426 (Cosmetology Act), Title 16 California Code of Regulations §979 (infection control), Cal/OSHA standards (Bloodborne Pathogens 8 CCR §5193; Hazard Communication §5194).

Original content

All practice questions are 100% original prose written from the statutes themselves — never copied or paraphrased from real exam questions or any prep company's materials. Real exam content is copyrighted; we deliberately do not use it.

Who writes PrepPass

PrepPass is written and maintained by the PrepPass team. We write every question ourselves from the published primary sources — exam outlines, statutes, regulations and official handbooks — and check each fact against the source it cites before it goes live. We offer the practice free, in four languages, so that cost and first language are never the reason someone cannot prepare.

We are not affiliated with the California Contractors State License Board (CSLB), the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology (BBC), the California Department of Insurance (CDI), PSI Services, or any other licensing authority.
