Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 26, 2026
PrepPass ("we", "us", "our") is a free study site for California professional license exams. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
The short version: we collect the minimum needed to track your progress if you sign in. We do not sell your data. We do not run third-party advertising. You can delete your account anytime by contacting us.
What we collect
If you do not sign up: nothing personal. We use Vercel Analytics, which collects anonymous aggregate data (page views, country, browser type) — no cookies, no IP tracking that identifies you.
If you sign up, we store:
- Your email address (for account access)
- A password hash (never the password itself)
- Optional: display name and exam date you set
- Your answer history (which questions you tried, right/wrong)
- Bookmarks and Smart Review schedule (for the features to work)
- Study session timestamps (for your streak counter)
We never collect: full names, addresses, phone numbers, or payment information. PrepPass is free and we do not process payments.
How we use your data
- To show you your own progress on the dashboard
- To power Smart Review, Bookmarks, and Focus Mode features for your account
- To detect abuse (e.g., rate-limit signups)
- Aggregate anonymous analytics to understand what content is useful
We do not sell, share, or transfer your data to third parties for advertising or marketing.
Third-party services
PrepPass uses these services to operate:
- Vercel — hosts the website and provides anonymous analytics
- Supabase — stores account data and study progress (PostgreSQL database, encrypted in transit and at rest)
- Google — Search Console for SEO measurement only; no Google tracking pixels on the site
Each provider has its own privacy policy. We have signed data processing agreements where applicable.
Cookies and storage
PrepPass uses minimal storage:
- Session cookie (only if signed in) — keeps you logged in. Expires when you log out.
- localStorage — used to remember things like your last visited exam and PWA install prompt dismissal. Never sent to our servers.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
Your California rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you the right to:
- Know what personal information we collect about you
- Request a copy of your data
- Request deletion of your data
- Opt out of any sale of your data (we never sell data)
- Not be discriminated against for exercising these rights
To exercise these rights, email ls562535773@gmail.com with the subject line "Privacy Request".
Data retention
Account data is retained as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently remove your data within 30 days (some backups may take up to 90 days to fully purge).
Children
PrepPass is for adults preparing for California professional license exams. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, please email us and we will delete the account.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top will change. Material changes (e.g., new third-party services, new data uses) will be announced via email to signed-in users.
