Speed limits
The default built-up-area limit is 50 km/h unless signed otherwise, and school zones use a lower limit during signed times. Obey posted limits.
Safe speed
The limit is a maximum for good conditions. Slow down for rain, fog, heavy traffic, night driving or unfamiliar roads.
Why lower limits
Residential and school areas have lower limits because of pedestrians, children and driveways, where slower speeds save lives.
