Emergency Response and Incident Reporting
Being ready for emergencies and knowing what and how to report, including notifiable incidents and near misses.
Emergency preparedness
Know the site's exits, assembly points, alarms, evacuation procedures and first-aid arrangements before an emergency happens. This is usually covered in the site induction.
Notifiable incidents
Serious events, such as a death, serious injury or illness, or a dangerous incident, must be reported to the WHS regulator immediately, and the site generally left undisturbed except to help the injured or make it safe.
Reporting near misses
Report near misses as well as injuries. A near miss shows a hazard that could cause harm next time, so reporting it lets the site fix the problem before someone is hurt.
