A Parliamentary Democracy
Australia is a parliamentary democracy in which citizens elect representatives to make laws. Voting is compulsory for citizens aged 18 and over, and elections use a secret ballot so people can vote freely without anyone knowing their choice.
Rights and Freedoms
Citizens have rights such as voting, standing for parliament, and applying for an Australian passport. Freedoms include freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and freedom of association, which lets people join or choose not to join any lawful group. Australians believe in equality with no formal class system.
