Australian Values
This is the most important section of the test. On the official exam you must answer all five Australian Values questions correctly, so study this chapter closely.
Shared National Values
Our Common Bond sets out values that Australians share, including respect for the freedom and dignity of the individual, the equality of men and women, freedom of religion, and a commitment to the rule of law. Everyone, including those in government, is equal before and subject to the law.
Freedom, Fairness and Respect
Australians value freedom of speech, freedom of association, and equality of opportunity, often called a 'fair go,' where people succeed through their own effort rather than their background. The values also include mutual respect, tolerance, compassion for those in need, and peaceful participation in society.
