GED Testing Service LLC. GED Testing Service develops and delivers the test; you take it at an official GED test center or through online proctoring, but online testing is not offered in every state. The credential itself is issued by the state or jurisdiction where you test — GEDTS states that each one has its own process for credential fulfillment, and each sets its own rules (age, residency) on top of GEDTS's.

No single time limit — the GED is four separate tests, each timed on its own: Social Studies 70 minutes, Science 90 minutes, Mathematical Reasoning 115 minutes (including a 3-minute break between its two parts), and Reasoning Through Language Arts 150 minutes (including a 10-minute break between parts 2 and 3 and 45 minutes for the written essay). Each time includes 2 or 3 minutes of instructions and final review. GEDTS publishes no combined total and the subjects can be taken on different days.

Scaled score of 145 on a 100–200 scale. On each of the four subjects, separately. GEDTS: “The GED® test has a passing score of 145 for each test subject. To earn your high school equivalency, you'll need to score 145 or higher on all four subjects.” Scores are not averaged across subjects, and 145 is a scaled score, not a percentage. GEDTS also reports two higher levels on the same scale — GED College Ready (165–174) and College Ready + Credit (175 and above). Retakes: after a first attempt you get two further retests at any time; if you have not passed within 3 attempts, you wait 60 days before each further attempt.
