| Administering body | Indiana Department of Insurance (IDOI) — exam delivered by Pearson VUE IDOI states its licensing exams are given by computer at Ivy Tech and Pearson VUE test centers; Pearson VUE's Indiana page describes booking at a physical testing center and does not describe an online-proctored option. IDOI requires a 40-hour approved pre-licensing course for the Life & Health line; the course completion certificate is valid for six months, within which the candidate must pass the exam and apply for the licence. | Passing score | Not published by Indiana Department of Insurance The handbook's table is headed "the scaled score needed to pass each exam" and lists 70 for Life & Health, yet the same handbook says "Candidates need to achieve 70% to pass the IDOI exams", and IDOI's own table is headed "PASSING SCORE (%)" with 70. A scaled score and a percentage are different measures, so we do not state it as either. Candidates must wait 48 hours before retaking an exam. IDOI's Examination Procedure Checklist says "All IDOI exams are given in English", while the August 2026 Pearson VUE handbook's fee table lists a "Life & Health - Spanish" exam at $69. Until IDOI and Pearson VUE agree, we do not state which languages are offered. Candidates whose first language is not English can request extra time through the ESL form.
