Montana Real Estate Salesperson Examination — Exam facts
Administering bodyMontana Board of Realty Regulation (Department of Labor & Industry) — exam delivered by Pearson VUE

The Board's salesperson page sends candidates to Pearson VUE to schedule. Candidates complete 70 hours of approved pre-licensing education first. The exam can be taken at a Pearson VUE test center or online through OnVUE. How long a passing result stays valid is not shown here: the Board's checklist says the exam must have been passed within the past 12 months, while the Pearson VUE handbook says results are good for three years.

Questions130–135 questions

The range is the sum of Pearson VUE's published parts: the national portion has 80 scored items plus 5 unscored pretest items, and the Montana state portion has 40 scored items plus unscored pretest items — 10 in the handbook's exam table, 5 to 10 in its state content outline.

Passing scoreScaled score of 75 on a 0–100 scale

Required on each portion, national and state. Pearson VUE says the scaled score is neither the number nor the percentage of questions answered correctly. A candidate who passes one portion and fails the other retakes only the failed portion.

Fees
  • $95 — Examination fee, per portion (national or state) (Pearson VUE, per attempt)
  • $80 — Salesperson license application fee (Montana Board of Realty Regulation, one-time) Source

Pearson VUE lists the national and the state salesperson exams separately, each at the same fee, so a first sitting of both portions is two fees. The Board's salesperson page also lists an annual active renewal fee equal to the license fee.
