Rules of the Road & Right of Way
Right-of-way rules say who must yield so intersections stay safe and orderly.
Open and four-way intersections
At an open intersection, yield to any vehicle already in it and when you are entering from a smaller or unpaved road. At a four-way stop, if two vehicles stop together, the driver on the right goes first.
Turns
When turning left, yield to oncoming vehicles and to pedestrians before completing the turn. You may turn right on red after a complete stop unless a sign prohibits it.
Roundabouts
Traffic already circulating in a roundabout has the right of way. Yield on approach, enter when there is a safe gap, travel counterclockwise, and signal before exiting.
