Road Signs & Signals
The Road Users' Code groups signs by shape and colour so you can read them quickly and act early.
Regulatory signs
Round signs give orders. A red border usually prohibits or restricts, such as no entry or no turn, while a blue circle with a white arrow tells you what you must do, such as keep left.
Warning and stop signs
Red-bordered triangles warn of hazards ahead so you can slow down. A red octagonal STOP sign means come to a complete stop and give way before proceeding.
Information signs and signals
Blue rectangular signs give directions and information. At traffic lights, green means go if clear, amber means stop unless too close to do so safely, and red means stop. Always give way to pedestrians already crossing.
