Right of Way & Giving Way
India drives on the left, which sets the direction of overtaking, roundabouts, and giving way.
Keep left, overtake right
Keep to the left and let faster traffic pass on your right. Overtake only on the right, only when the road ahead is clearly safe. Never overtake on bends, near crossings, or where your view is blocked.
Roundabouts and signals
A roundabout flows clockwise, so circulating vehicles reach you from the right. Give way to any vehicle already in the circle. Before turning or changing lanes, check mirrors, signal in good time, and move only when it is safe.
Emergency vehicles
When an ambulance, fire engine, or police vehicle approaches with siren and lights, slow down and pull to the side to give a clear path, without braking so sharply that you cause a crash.
