Impaired Driving & New Brunswick GDL
New Brunswick's graduated licensing program eases new drivers into full privileges while requiring a clear head.
Zero blood alcohol
Drivers in the graduated licensing program, at Level 1 and Level 2, must have zero blood alcohol whenever they drive. Alcohol and drugs impair judgement, vision and reaction time.
Level 1 learner rules
A Level 1 learner must have a fully licensed driver in the front passenger seat and faces a restriction on driving between midnight and 5 a.m. All occupants must wear seat belts.
Distraction
Using a hand-held cell phone or similar device while driving is illegal. Keep your focus on driving and stop somewhere safe if you must use a phone.
