Rules of the Road & Right of Way
Right-of-way rules settle who goes first so traffic moves safely. In New Hampshire you yield rather than force your way, and rotaries are common at intersections.
Intersections and stops
At a four-way stop, the first driver to arrive goes first; if two arrive together, the driver on the left yields to the driver on the right. When turning left, yield to oncoming traffic and pedestrians.
Rotaries and roundabouts
Enter a rotary or roundabout to the right, travel counterclockwise, and yield to pedestrians and to vehicles already circulating. Signal before you exit.
Move Over Law
When you approach a stopped emergency, law-enforcement, or service vehicle with flashing lights, move over one lane if you can do so safely. If not, slow down and pass with caution.
