Chapter 5 of 518% of exam
Impaired Driving & Nova Scotia GDL
Nova Scotia's Graduated Driver Licensing system adds restrictions for new drivers and demands a clear head behind the wheel.
Zero blood alcohol
Drivers in the Graduated Licensing system, including Class 7 learners and newly licensed drivers, must have zero blood alcohol whenever they drive. Alcohol and drugs slow reactions and impair judgement.
Learner-stage rules
A Class 7 learner must have a fully licensed driver in the front passenger seat and may not drive between midnight and 5 a.m. All occupants must wear seat belts.
Distraction
Using a hand-held cell phone or similar device while driving is illegal in Nova Scotia. Keep your attention on the road and pull over safely if you need to use a phone.
