Rules of the Road & Right of Way
Right-of-way rules say who must yield; they never guarantee that another driver will yield to you.
Intersections and stops
At a four-way stop, the first to arrive goes first, and when two arrive together the driver on the left yields to the driver on the right. Yield to traffic already circulating when you enter a roundabout.
Turns
When turning left at a green light with no arrow, yield to oncoming vehicles and pedestrians before you turn. Complete your turn only when there is a safe gap.
Emergency vehicles and school buses
Pull to the right and stop for approaching emergency vehicles using lights and siren. Stop for a school bus with flashing red lights and wait until the lights stop and the bus moves.
