Alabama Licensing Requirements and Renewal
This chapter summarizes how a person qualifies for and maintains an Alabama license: pre-license education, post-license requirements to convert the temporary license, and continuing education.
Pre-License Education and Exam
An Alabama salesperson applicant must complete 60 clock hours of Commission-approved pre-license education before taking the licensing examination. Applicants must also meet background and honesty requirements set by the Commission.
Post-License Course and Permanent Licensing
After passing the exam and receiving a temporary license, the licensee must complete a required post-license course within the temporary license period to obtain the permanent salesperson license. Failing to complete this course on time causes the temporary license to lapse.
Continuing Education and Renewal
Alabama licenses are renewed on a periodic cycle, and permanent licensees must complete Commission-approved continuing education to renew an active license. Continuing education keeps licensees current on Alabama law, agency duties, and ethical practice.
