Chapter 15 of 1515% of exam

Connecticut Licensing Requirements and Renewal

This chapter summarizes how a person qualifies for and maintains a Connecticut license: pre-license education, examination and application, and continuing education administered through the Department of Consumer Protection.

Pre-License Education and Exam

A Connecticut salesperson applicant must complete 60 clock hours of approved Principles and Practices of Real Estate pre-license education before taking the licensing examination. Applicants must also pass the exam and satisfy the Commission's application and honesty requirements.

Affiliation with a Broker

A new salesperson license is issued in connection with a supervising broker. The salesperson may practice only while affiliated with that broker, and any change of broker must be reported so the license record reflects the correct supervising broker.

Continuing Education and Renewal

Connecticut licenses are renewed on a periodic cycle, and licensees must complete approved continuing education to renew an active license. Continuing education keeps licensees current on Connecticut law, agency duties, and ethical practice.
