Louisiana Licensing Requirements and Renewal
This chapter summarizes how a person qualifies for and maintains a Louisiana license: pre-license education, post-license education, and continuing education, along with the E&O condition on active status.
Pre-License Education and Exam
A Louisiana salesperson applicant must complete 90 clock hours of Commission-approved pre-license education before taking the licensing examination. Applicants must also meet background and honesty requirements set by the Commission.
Post-License Education
After initial licensure, Louisiana requires a post-license education course to be completed within a set period following the first license. Completing post-license education is necessary to keep the license in good standing beyond the first period.
Continuing Education, E&O, and Renewal
Louisiana licenses are renewed on a periodic cycle. To renew an active license, a licensee must complete Commission-approved continuing education and maintain errors and omissions (E&O) insurance. These requirements keep licensees current and financially responsible.
