Ohio License Law and Rules
Ohio's license law and administrative rules set detailed standards for practice. This is the heaviest state topic on the exam.
Standards of Conduct
Ohio law requires honesty, proper handling of trust funds, accurate advertising, and full disclosure of material facts. Commingling client funds with the broker's own money is prohibited. Violations can lead to citations, fines, suspension, or revocation.
Broker Supervision
An Ohio salesperson must operate under a broker who holds the salesperson's license and supervises their transactions. Brokers are responsible for their affiliated licensees' compliance and for maintaining trust accounts. Salespersons cannot practice independently or receive commissions except through their broker.
