The candidate must pass the exam, which covers national and Utah-specific content, and meet the Division's eligibility requirements.
Background Check and Affiliation
Applicants must submit fingerprints and pass a background check as part of qualifying for a Utah license. The sales agent license becomes active only when the agent is affiliated with a principal broker who supervises the agent's activity. Without an active principal broker, the agent may not conduct brokerage.
Continuing Education and Renewal
Utah sales agent licenses renew on a set cycle, and licensees must complete Division-approved continuing education, including required core topics, before renewing. Continuing education keeps licensees current on Utah law and practice. Letting a license lapse can require additional steps before the licensee may resume practice.
