Chapter 15 of 1515% of exam

Wisconsin License Requirements and Renewal

Wisconsin sets education, examination, and biennial renewal requirements for salespersons. This chapter reviews the path to licensure and ongoing education. Confirm current hour totals and fees with DSPS.

Becoming a Salesperson

A Wisconsin salesperson applicant must complete the required pre-license education, pass the licensing examination, and apply to DSPS while associating with a licensed broker. Applicants must meet the character and background standards set by the Board.

Continuing Education and Biennial Renewal

Wisconsin licenses renew on a biennial cycle ending December 31 of even-numbered years. To renew on active status, licensees must complete the required continuing education for the period, which the Board specifies. Missing education or the deadline affects active status.

Maintaining Good Standing

Beyond education and renewal, Wisconsin licensees must keep their information current with DSPS, work under a licensed broker (for salespersons), and comply with Chapter 452 and REEB rules. Verify current education hours, fees, and deadlines directly with the Department of Safety and Professional Services.
