Signs & Signals

Singapore's road signs follow standard shapes so you can read them quickly.

Mandatory and prohibitory signs

Round signs give orders. A red border with a red diagonal line forbids an action, while a blue round sign tells you what you must do.

Warning signs

Red-bordered triangular signs warn of a hazard ahead, such as a bend, junction or pedestrian crossing, so you can slow down in time.

Traffic lights

Red means stop, amber means stop unless you are too close to do so safely, and green means proceed if the way is clear. An inverted triangle sign means give way.
