Speed & Conditions
Speed limits and conditions decide how fast you can safely travel.
Speed limits
The default limit is 50 km/h in built-up areas and generally up to 90 km/h on expressways, unless a lower limit is signed. Obey posted limits.
Adjusting to conditions
Slow down and leave more space in rain or poor visibility, and near junctions, crossings and blind bends where hazards may appear.
Speeding offences
Driving above the limit is an offence that can bring a fine and demerit points, and greatly increases stopping distance and crash severity.
