Alcohol & Penalties
Alcohol and distraction carry serious penalties under the National Road Traffic Act.
Alcohol limits
An ordinary driver must have a blood alcohol concentration below 0.05 g per 100 ml; a professional driver must stay below 0.02 g per 100 ml. Alcohol impairs judgement and reactions.
Penalties
Driving over the limit can lead to arrest, fines, imprisonment and loss of your licence.
Distraction
You may not drive while holding a cellphone; it is an offence and a major cause of crashes.
