Safely Sharing the Road
Learner drivers, pedestrians and other road users all need care.
Following distance
Keep at least a two-second gap and more in rain, mist or on gravel, so you have room to see and stop.
Pedestrians
Give way to pedestrians at crossings and slow down where people may step into the road.
Learner's licence codes
Learner's licences come in three codes: Code 1 for motorcycles, Code 2 for light motor vehicles up to 3 500 kg, and Code 3 for heavy vehicles. A learner must be supervised by a licensed driver for that class.
