Chapter 4 of 520% of exam

Speed & Conditions

Speed limits and conditions decide a safe travelling speed.

Speed limits

Unless signs show otherwise, the general limits are 60 km/h in urban areas, 100 km/h on other public roads outside urban areas, and 120 km/h on freeways.

Adjusting to conditions

Slow down, switch on your lights and increase your following distance in mist, rain or at night, and wherever visibility is poor.

Speed and safety

Higher speed lengthens stopping distance and makes a crash more severe. Exceeding the limit is an offence.
