Give Way Rules
Australia drives on the left, and give-way rules follow that pattern. Knowing who goes first keeps intersections safe and orderly.
Uncontrolled intersections
At a cross intersection with no signs or lights, give way to any vehicle approaching from your right. When turning right, give way to oncoming vehicles going straight or turning left. At a T-intersection the driver on the terminating road gives way to traffic on the continuing road.
Roundabouts
Slow down on approach and give way to any vehicle already in the roundabout. Take the correct lane before you enter, signal right if turning right, and signal left as you leave where it is practical.
Pedestrians
When you turn at an intersection you must give way to pedestrians crossing the road you are turning into. Give way to pedestrians on marked crossings, and take extra care near schools and children's crossings.
