Give-Way Rules

Knowing who yields keeps intersections orderly on Tasmania's left-hand roads.

Uncontrolled intersections

Where there are no signs or signals, give way to any vehicle approaching from your right. At a T-intersection the road that ends gives way to the continuing road.

Turning and roundabouts

When turning right, give way to oncoming vehicles going straight or turning left. Entering a roundabout, give way to any vehicle already in it and signal left as you leave.

Pedestrians

When you turn at an intersection you must give way to pedestrians crossing the road you are entering, and you must give way at marked crossings.
