Signs & Signals
Road signs and markings give you instructions, warnings and guidance at a glance.
Shapes and colours
A red octagon means STOP; a red circle sets a rule such as a maximum speed; a yellow diamond warns of a hazard ahead. Learning the shapes lets you read a sign before you can read its words.
Road markings
Keep left of a single continuous centre line and only cross it in limited situations. Broken lines may be crossed when it is safe. Painted lines at intersections show where to stop and give way.
Traffic lights
Red means stop behind the line, yellow means stop unless it is unsafe to do so, and green means go if the way is clear. A red arrow means you must not turn in that direction.
