Speed & Conditions
Safe speed depends on the limit, the traffic and the weather.
Default limits
Unless a sign says otherwise, the limit is 50 km/h in built-up areas and 100 km/h on the open road. Always obey a posted limit.
Adjusting to conditions
Slow down and leave more space in rain, fog or at night, and in school zones during the signed times. Turn on headlights from sunset to sunrise and whenever visibility is poor.
Speed and stopping
The faster you travel, the longer it takes to stop and the more severe a crash. Choose a speed that suits the road, not just the limit.
