Vocabulary in Context
Many Aptis items ask you to choose the word that best fits a sentence. Success depends on reading the whole sentence for clues and knowing common collocations.
Reading the Context
The rest of the sentence usually points to the answer. If nobody could follow the instructions, the missing adjective must be negative, such as 'confusing'. Watch for result clauses introduced by 'so ... that', which tell you whether the word should be positive or negative.
Common Collocations
English pairs certain words together in fixed ways: you 'do a favour', a policy 'comes into effect', and a talented person has 'a flair for' something. Learning these combinations as whole units is more reliable than translating word by word.
