Word Formation
Word-form items give you a base word and ask for the noun, verb, adjective, or adverb that fits the gap. The grammar around the gap tells you which form is needed.
Identifying the Needed Part of Speech
After 'the' or a possessive like 'her', a noun is usually required ('difficulty', 'ability'). Before a noun, an adjective describes it ('impressive contribution'). To describe a verb, use an adverb ('spoke passionately').
Common Suffix Patterns
Suffixes signal word class: '-ity' and '-ion' often mark nouns, '-ive' and '-ful' mark adjectives, and '-ly' typically marks adverbs. Recognising these endings helps you pick the right form quickly.
