Harm Minimisation
Reducing alcohol-related harm to patrons and the wider community through responsible practices and a duty of care.
What harm minimisation means
Harm minimisation aims to reduce alcohol-related harm, such as injury, violence, drink-driving and health problems, for both patrons and the community. Responsible service supports this goal.
Safe transport and duty of care
Venues owe patrons a duty of care. Do not let intoxicated patrons drive; encourage safer options such as a taxi, rideshare, courtesy bus or a sober driver.
House policies and records
House policies and an incident register recording refusals and problems support consistent decisions, help meet licence conditions, and let a venue review and improve its practices.
