Blood exposure response
If a client is cut and bleeds, the practitioner stops, puts on gloves, gives first aid, then cleans and disinfects contaminated tools and surfaces and disposes of contaminated disposables properly. This procedure limits the spread of bloodborne pathogens and is a core safety duty.
Double-dipping and disposables
Wax applicators must not be re-dipped into the pot after touching skin, because that contaminates the wax for later clients; a fresh stick is used each time. Porous single-use items such as nail files and buffers are discarded after one client. Single-use discipline is a simple, effective infection barrier.
Linens and equipment
A clean towel or drape is provided for each client, and soiled linens are kept covered and away from clean supplies. Pedicure foot spas are drained, cleaned, and disinfected after every client. These routines keep an establishment inspection-ready.
