Questions
Is this an official IRS course?
No. PrepPass is an independent study resource. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or approved by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Completing it does not satisfy any licensing, education or experience requirement.
Will the course tell me whether I will pass?
No. Scores in the course, the diagnostic and the mock exams show how you answered our questions; they do not predict or guarantee your result.
Do the plans renew? Is there anything to cancel?
The monthly plan ($24 a month) renews every month until you cancel. The 3-month plan ($59) is one payment for 90 days of access and does not renew. The 6-month plan ($89) is one payment for 180 days of access and does not renew.
What can I use for free?
Unit 0 (Orientation) and Module 1 (Preliminary Work with Taxpayer Data) and the 30-question diagnostic, with no payment and no card.
How long does the course take?
About 47 hr of study (est.): for each lesson, twice its narration, a minute per check and two minutes per practice question, with some buffer. An estimate; yours depends on what you already know, and it says nothing about your result.
Where is my progress saved?
In your PrepPass account, once you sign in, so it follows you to another browser or device. Before you sign in, your progress on the free lessons is kept in this browser and is added to your account when you do.
What is the refund policy?
All sales are final: course plans are not refundable. If you were charged by mistake or cannot open the course because of a fault on our side, email support@preppass.org. Instead of refunds there is a 90-day access extension if you study the course and do not pass, on the conditions in the next answer. The course and the extension do not predict or guarantee an exam result.
What if I study the course and still do not pass?
If you meet these conditions, we add 90 days of free access. Conditions: You bought a one-payment plan for this course (3 or 6 months) and you sat the Special Enrollment Examination Part 1 while that plan was active. Your Study record shows every lesson that is open in the course done (lessons marked "coming" are not counted), and every chapter quiz that exists taken. Your Study record shows at least two practice mock exams taken, and the latest scored 80% or higher. You send your request within 30 days of the exam date. Email support@preppass.org from the address you bought with and attach (1) the exam provider's score report showing you did not pass, (2) your purchase receipt, and (3) a screenshot of your Study record from the course. If it all matches, we add 90 days of access, counted from the day we approve it or the day your plan ends, whichever is later. One extension per purchase. It is extra study time, not money back, and it does not predict or guarantee an exam result. Your Study record follows your account, so you can take the screenshot on any device where you are signed in; we may check it against the progress saved to your account. We may change or end this offer for future purchases; a change never affects a plan you already bought.
