Administering bodyConnecticut Insurance Department — exam delivered by Pearson VUE

The Insurance Department says Connecticut discontinued online exams on August 1, 2025; all exams are taken at Pearson VUE's physical test centers. The handbook requires 40 hours of pre-licensing training for the combined Life/Accident and Health or Sickness lines (20 hours for a single line) before the exam.

QuestionsNot published by Connecticut Insurance Department / Pearson VUE

The content outline in force since September 1, 2026 contradicts itself for the general portion: its heading says 50 scored plus 10 pretest questions, while the section weights printed beneath it add up to 100. The Connecticut law portion is 30 scored plus 5 pretest questions. The candidate handbook prints no question counts, so no total is shown.

Fees
  • $105 — Examination fee (12-CT-03 Life, Accident & Health or Sickness Producer) (Pearson VUE, per attempt) Source
  • $140 — Initial individual producer licence fee (Connecticut Insurance Department, one-time) Source

The $140 initial licence fee appears both in the handbook's licence table and on the Insurance Department's producer page. That page also mentions a "non-refundable $50.00 application fee" without saying whether it is part of the $140 or charged on top, so it is not listed separately.

Languages offeredEnglish · Spanish

The handbook says Spanish translated exams are offered in addition to the English exams; Spanish must be selected when booking, and a candidate on the Spanish version can switch between Spanish and English at any time during the exam.
