| Administering body | Illinois Department of Insurance — exam delivered by Pearson VUE Pearson VUE's Illinois page says candidates may book at a physical test center; it does not offer online proctoring for these exams. The Department requires 20 hours of pre-licensing education per line of authority, 7.5 of them in a classroom, completed before the exam; the handbook says the course must be used to obtain a licence within 12 months of completion. | Passing score | Scaled score of 70 on a 0–100 scale The handbook says scores should not be read as the percentage or number of correct answers. The same rule applies to every exam. The General and State exams for a line must both be passed within 90 days. After a failed attempt, a candidate must wait 24 hours before making a new reservation. The handbook prices each exam at $92 and says a General and State exam for the same line, placed on one order, cost $92 together; the discount does not apply across lines. The $92 includes the Illinois administrative fee of $50. The licence fee is from the Department's fee schedule; the Department says the fee paid through NIPR is prorated to the birth-month expiration date.
