QuestionsThere is no combined exam: Life Producer and Accident & Health Producer are two separate exams with the same structure. Each has a general portion of 50 scoreable plus 5 pretest questions and a Rhode Island portion of 30 scoreable plus 5 pretest questions. Pretest questions are not scored.

Time limitThere is no combined exam. For each of the Life Producer and Accident & Health Producer exams the handbook allots 1 hour 15 minutes to the general section and 45 minutes to the state section.

Passing scoreScaled score of 70 on a 0–100 scale

The same rule applies to both exams. The handbook states that the reported scaled score is neither the number nor the percentage of questions answered correctly, and that each exam is scored as a whole. Candidates who fail must wait 24 hours before making a new reservation, which cannot be made at the test center.

A candidate who wants both the Life and the Accident & Health licence must pass both exams. The handbook's fee table is headed "If scheduled back to back, buy one get one free". Fees are paid when reserving and are non-refundable except under the change/cancel policy. The licence fee charged by the Department is not printed in the handbook, so it is not shown.

Both the Life Producer and the Accident & Health Producer exams have Spanish versions. The language is chosen when reserving, and a candidate taking the Spanish version can switch between Spanish and English at any time during the exam.
