Chapter 3 of 1210% of exam

Hawaii Producer Licensing & CE

How a person becomes and stays a licensed P&C producer in Hawaii.

Getting Licensed

A resident producer obtains a property and casualty license from the DCCA Insurance Division after applying, completing any required prelicensing course, passing the state examination, clearing a background check, and paying the fee. Confirm current prelicensing-hour rules with the division.

Appointments and Continuing Education

To transact a specific insurer's business, that company must appoint the producer and file the appointment with the division. Licenses renew on a set cycle with a fee, and Hawaii requires state-approved continuing education, including an ethics component, each renewal period. Exact CE hour totals are set by the division and should be verified before renewal.
