Chapter 3 of 520% of exam
Word Formation
Word-formation tasks ask you to change a base word into the form the sentence needs. This chapter shows how to read the gap and choose the right part of speech.
Identify the Part of Speech
A gap after a possessive ('his ___') usually needs a noun; a gap modifying an adjective needs an adverb ('significantly different').
Suffix Signals
Endings such as -ness and -ment mark nouns, -al and -ive mark adjectives, and -ly marks most adverbs. Use them to build the correct form.
