Right of Way & Giving Way

The Philippines drives on the right, which sets the direction of overtaking, roundabouts, and giving way.

Keep right, overtake left

Keep to the right side of the road and let faster traffic pass on your left. Overtake only on the left, only where it is legal and safe, and never on a blind curve or the crest of a hill.

Roundabouts (rotondas)

Traffic in a rotonda flows counter-clockwise, so vehicles already circulating approach from your left. Give way to them before you enter, and signal as you leave.

Intersections and turns

At an unmarked intersection, give way to whoever clearly arrived first and, when in doubt, to the vehicle on your right. When turning across the road, give way to oncoming traffic going straight ahead.
