Chapter 3 of 523% of exam

The Scrum Events

Scrum uses five events to create regularity and reduce the need for undefined meetings. This chapter covers the Sprint and the four events it contains, with their purposes and timeboxes.

The Sprint and Sprint Planning

The Sprint is a fixed-length container of one month or less, and a new one starts immediately after the previous ends. Sprint Planning opens the Sprint by addressing why it is valuable (the Sprint Goal), what can be done, and how, producing the Sprint Backlog.

The Daily Scrum

The Daily Scrum is a 15-minute event for the Developers, held each working day. They inspect progress toward the Sprint Goal and adapt the Sprint Backlog, creating an actionable plan for the next day and surfacing impediments.

Sprint Review and Retrospective

The Sprint Review lets the Scrum Team and stakeholders inspect the Increment and progress toward the Product Goal and adapt the Product Backlog. The Sprint Retrospective then focuses on how the team worked, planning improvements to increase quality and effectiveness.
