Building the Right Word
Word-form tasks ask you to change a base word to fit the sentence. This chapter shows how to read the gap and choose a noun, verb, adjective, or adverb.
Nouns and Adjectives
After an adjective like 'great' or 'careful', a noun usually follows ('great enthusiasm', 'careful preparation'). Before a noun, an adjective is needed ('a healthy diet').
Adverbs of Manner
To describe how an action happens, use an adverb: 'spoke passionately'. Most are formed by adding -ly to the adjective.
