Georgia law establishes who may practice real estate and the standards they must meet. The Georgia Real Estate Commission enforces these rules.
Licensing and Regulation
The Georgia Real Estate Commission (GREC) licenses and regulates brokers, associate brokers, and salespersons. A salesperson must work under the supervision of a licensed broker who is responsible for their activities. Licenses require pre-license education, passing the exam, and ongoing continuing education.
Standards and Discipline
Georgia rules set standards for advertising, trust-account handling, and disclosure. Violations such as commingling, fraud, or unlicensed activity can lead to fines, citations, suspension, or revocation. Brokers bear supervisory responsibility for their affiliated licensees.
