Minnesota Licensing Requirements

Minnesota's salesperson pre-license education requirement is satisfied by completing:

  • a.A single 40-hour course before the exam
  • b.Only a college degree in business
  • c.A 24-hour ethics seminar
  • d.Three 30-hour courses (Course I, II, and III), with Course I completed before taking the licensing exam

Minnesota requires 90 hours of approved pre-license education delivered as three 30-hour courses. Course I must be completed before a candidate sits for the state licensing examination; Courses II and III must be completed before the candidate applies for the salesperson license. This staged three-course structure is specific to Minnesota.
