Chapter 3 of 518% of exam
Word Formation
These items ask you to change a base word into the noun, verb, adjective, or adverb that fits the gap. The grammar around the gap shows which form is needed.
Choosing the Part of Speech
After a possessive, a noun is usually needed ('discovery'). Before a noun, use an adjective ('unexpected decision'). To describe a verb, use an adverb ('behaved responsibly').
Building Verbs
Some suffixes turn other words into verbs, such as '-en' in 'strengthen' from 'strong'. After 'to', the base verb form is required, not the noun or adjective.
