Emergencies and First Aid

Responding to medical emergencies, fires and evacuations, with life safety as the overriding priority.

Medical emergencies

For an unconscious casualty who is breathing, use the recovery position and monitor their breathing while you call for an ambulance. Only act within your first-aid training and do not move a casualty unnecessarily.

Fire and evacuation

Door staff should know the venue's exits, alarm and evacuation procedures and assembly points, and help move people out calmly. Keep exits clear so people can leave quickly.

Priorities

In any emergency, preserve life first: keep yourself and others safe, call the emergency services, and only then deal with property. Acting within your competence keeps everyone safer.
