Roles and Responsibilities

What a door supervisor does, the standards expected, and the fact that door staff are private citizens, not police officers.

The core role

A door supervisor keeps people and property safe, controls entry and exit, and maintains a safe, orderly environment. They have the same legal powers as any member of the public, not the powers of a police officer.

Professional standards

Door supervisors should be calm, fair and non-discriminatory. Refusals and other decisions must be lawful and never based on characteristics such as race, religion, sex or disability.

Your licence

An SIA licence must be displayed while working in a licensable role. Working without a valid licence is a criminal offence, and the licence must not be lent to anyone else.
